Mattai ART/Wear is an extension of Suchitra Mattai’s artistic practice into the realm of the wearable, using up-cycled and found materials to create singular garments layered with meaning, memory, and cultural resonance. Suchitra hails from a lineage of seamstresses, where the rhythm of stitching and the language of cloth were passed down through generations of women as both craft and quiet resistance. She honors her grandmothers’ legacy through objects that exist in the space between art and fashion, expression and utility.
